About me
I’m Ruby Yip, a Hong Kong-based Chinese calligraphy artist. Since picking up my brush in 2016, I’ve been exploring the rich traditions of Seal, Clerical, Regular, Running, and Cursive scripts. I have grown to appreciate the stories that each stroke conveys.
Calligraphy is more than writing—it’s about connection, emotion, and rhythm. I share my passion for this art through classes and exhibitions, and my works have found their way to places like the Hong Kong Cultural Centre, Central Library, shopping malls, and more.
As a tutor, I teach students of all ages, from curious kids to lifelong learners. Whether in small private lessons or lively workshops for schools or companies, every session offers an opportunity to slow down and create something meaningful.
I am truly grateful for the wonderful mentors and friends who have inspired and encouraged me on my calligraphy journey. Their guidance has helped me grow and gain valuable insights both as an artist and as an individual. I have also enjoyed collaborating with brands like FENDI, Fresh, Loro Piana, PayPal, and VERSACE to introduce calligraphy into new and exciting contexts. I’m so glad you’re here—let’s celebrate the beauty of brush and ink, one stroke at a time.

Express your feelings with brushing pen and ink
In a time when AI types in seconds and printers operate faster than we can think, why do we still write? What makes a brush dipped in ink feel so different from tapping a screen? Perhaps it’s because handwriting conveys our emotions—raw, imperfect, and distinctly human. It could be the quiet therapy found in carefully tracing each stroke. Or maybe it's the simple magic of creating something by hand, something that is uniquely yours.
Calligraphy isn’t just about beautiful letters; it’s about taking the time to appreciate beauty. It involves looking at ancient masterpieces and allowing them to inspire new ideas. It's about breathing life into paper, letting your thoughts flow through the brush, and finding stillness in the movement. In our fast-paced digital world, this slow, mindful act becomes a form of rebellion—a gentle reminder that we are more than machines. It's not just romantic; it serves as a nostalgic reminder of the warmth that handwritten words can convey.

How rich your imagination is, how vast the sky is
The world never stands still — and neither should we. As life evolves, so do how we grow, learn, and express ourselves. Who says we must stick to just one path, skill, or title? Our creativity doesn’t live in a box.
You carry many possibilities within you. Keep learning, wonder often, and let your imagination lead the way. Every curious thought, every brave try, every spark of joy — they all bring you closer to who you truly are. Through each little step, you’ll uncover your talents and a sky full of others shining in their own ways.
